Normally, I don’t leave the administrative building. This week, though, I’ve been eating from the cafeteria for lunch. I enjoy waltzing through the atrium of the main part of the hospital.
Today, a co-worker hollered at me from a distance, “Heeeey, Ash!”
I greeted her, and a patient’s mom looked up.
“Is that Ash?” the mom asked. My friend nodded, “Yeah, this is Ash.”
“Oh, Ash! You’ve helped me so much! My son _____ is a patient of [the doctor I support]. You helped me schedule surgery and scans and you’re just so helpful. Thank you.”
See? This is one reason I love what I do. I love helping people. I love that I made such a good impression on this woman, that without having ever met me, she remembered me, and she was eager to tell me so.
